Akumen is an automotive ‘start-up’.
A manufacturer of high-performance ‘after-market’ cold air filtration / induction kits for BMW, Audi, VW & Mercedes.
We took them from early ideation through a complete rethink of their brand strategy, styling and a complete product redesign in-line with their stated goal to ‘disrupt’ a super competitive marketplace.

- Brief
- Akumen™ wanted to position their ‘high-performance’ product line as “the challenger brand” to established / premium competitors.
- Requirements
- We were tasked with researching and developing a ‘brand strategy’ and full visual identity. They provided a working prototype, but were open to improvements on materials and styling.
- Solution
- Responding to our primary research, we proposed and crafted a ‘multi-tier’ product line; as progressive as it is exhilarating; as novel as it is high-performance; with each tier incorporating a unique take on an iconic Akumen ‘shroud’.
- Our crisp identity and streamlined product lines, echo the start-ups’ philosophy and values (innovation, prestige, creativity, relevance & ‘Savvy’).
- Statement styling was deployed giving the line an unashamedly bold, original, sleek yet functional aesthetic, with a clean edge.
