'Hud Uni Games'

Showcasing Next-Gen Talent to the Games Industry
The University of Huddersfield wanted to brand & promote their ‘Award-Winning’ Suite of Computer Games Bachelor Degrees.
  • Client
  • The University of Huddersfield
  • Sector
  • Higher Education (UK)
  • Services
  • Branding / Showreel / Print & Exhibition Design
  • Brief
  • The University of Huddersfield wanted to entice new / talented applicants whilst showcasing the high caliber of their student work and long established partnerships with leading UK Game Studios.
  • Requirements
  • The course team were keen to have a unique marketable identity (sub-brand) that would sit within the University’s brand framework, yet speak directly to gamers, prospective students and the wider entertainment industry alike.
  • Solution
  • Primary research lead to the creation of #HUG (Hud Uni Games). An umbrella label chosen to represent both the tight-knit / ‘co-mentoring’ team culture, and it’s relevance to the ‘student journey’.
  • Bold colours, glitched mixed media and clean typographic messaging was chosen to accentuate and showcase the depth / layers in real project work. Covering all stages... from applicants, various student cohorts, placement and alumni experiences alike. Outputs included... Game Jams, a blog, Youtube & Discord channels, Trade-show stands, Showreels and an Annual Awards event with industry representation.
Keynotes:
  • Developed '@HudUniGames' identity (Sub-brand)
  • Created a 'vibrant' & 'edgy' design style (Look 'n feel)
  • Curated student artwork (Showcasing all core stages)
  • Art-Directed the 'Showreel' (Co-Produced with a student)
  • Produced 'Exhibition stand' & 'Apparel' (for EGX, E3, etc.)
